Obituary of Oscar Frederick Melchert

Oscar F. Melchert of Lodi died May 3, 2011. He was born to Hugo and Erna Melchert in Lodi on February 1, 1925. He graduated from Oak View Grade School, and Galt High School. He lived in Acampo from birth until 1959, then moved to Lodi with his parents, and lived in Lodi for the rest of his life. He never married. He was of the Lutheran Faith. He helped on the farm where he was raised until he finished a home course for TV and Radio Repairing. He then went to work for Spud Fuller as a TV and Radio Repairman at Fuller's in downtown Lodi for a short time, then went to work for Frank Sasaki at Sak's TV. He remained there for almost 40 years before retiring. He was an avid Baseball fan, and enjoyed playing cards and board games with the family, and traveled with his parents. In later years, after his parents passed away, he joined the Lodi Moose Lodge #634, where he enjoyed playing pool, and bowling in a league for some time. He leaves 2 sisters, Vera (Charles) Freeman, of Acampo, and Irene Boynton, of Lodi. Also, 3 nieces and a nephew, 8 great nieces and nephews, and 12 great great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Monday the 9th of May at 1:00pm located at Rocha's Mortuary 215 S. School St. in Lodi. No visitation will be held.
