Obituary of Richard Louis Deller

Richard (Dick) Deller, 89, of Clements, passed away on Tuesday, October 30. Born and raised in Sacramento, resident of Clements 40 years.. Dick and the love of his life, Genevieve, were married in 1943, ran a successful cattle operation and competed in horse shows throughout the Western United States. Dick started judging horse shows in 1940 traveling the continent, holding cards in many associations: American Horse Show Association, American Quarter Horse and Paint Horse Associations, the National Cutting Horse Association, the Appaloosa Horse Club, the Buckskin and Palomino Registries, and the International Arabian Horse Association. Also a founding member of the Reined Cow Horse Association as well as President, President of the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association and inducted into their Hall Of Fame; Director for the American Quarter Horse Association; NRCHA Stockhorse Man of the Year and received the coveted Vaquero Award. Dick also put his thoughts about Spade Bits into a book called... One Man's Opinion About Spade Bits He is survived by daughter Karen Hennessy; grandchildren Erin Meyer, William James, Andrew Deller; great-grandchildren Alden, Mathilda, Adelina and Thomas. Preceded in death by wife, Genevieve, parents Andrew and Florence; sister Tina; son William. Services will be held at SacredHeartChurch, Ione, CA, Friday, November 9 at 11am.
