Eleanor Roemmich Hyatt was born at home on the family farm near Sutton, in Farmers Valley Neb., November 10, 1917, the oldest of four children of Wilhelm (W.W.) and Lydia Roemmich. Her two brothers Raymond and Lorenzo preceded her in death and her brother Harold is still lives in Vallejo. She graduated from Sutton High School where she received state honors for her singing ability and she also sang in the Glee Club. She taught school and had her own beauty shop before visiting Lodi at the request of her brother Ray in the mid 1940's to be with her aunt Amelia after the death of their 12 year old son. She never returned to Sutton, but found work as an accountant in Lodi and later in the LA and Pasadena area. She married Deane Haytt in 1956 and worked as his secretary in the insurance business. They traveled to many Lincoln Nationals Insurance and Rotary International conventions around the world. She received the Rotary International Governors citation for Outstanding Service to Rotary. They were divorced in 1981. The highlight of her summers were taken up with nieces and nephews who were entertained with visits to Disneyland, ball games, Knott's Berry Farm, the beach, even the train to San Diego, museums, zoos, and always the backyard pool Eleanor later returned to Lodi then Medford, Roseville and Lodi again before setting into Plymouth Square in Stockton in independent living and later skilled nursing. Eleanor was affectionately called Auntie by the children of Hal: Rick, Bill, and Jan; Ray: Rod, and Mike; and Larry: Ron, Mark Jeff, Stan, Barbie, John and Vicki. Also Sharon who is now deceased. Her love for them was returned 100 %. From the time of Eleanor's divorce she kept accurate records in a ledger, every penny spent and every penny earned as well as debts and credits and any debts forgiven. She was always the accountant. She was an expert knitter and crocheter, as many have baby blankets or other items to remember her skills. Eleanor kept her independent spirit to the end, fighting to stay with us one more day. She entered into a more peaceful place on June 25, 2013.
