Obituary of Sterling E. "Sid" Dearth
Sterling E. Dearth "Sid", 88, of Stockton passed away on August 14, 2013. He was born July 7, 1925 in Mooresville, Ohio. Sid, an American River College graduate, was retired from the United States Air Force where he served honorably for 20 years in Crete, Greenland, Mather AFB and Beale AFB. After his military career he spent some years as a bowling machine mechanic throughout the valley and foothills. Sid was an accomplished bowler having bowled five 300 games and one 299 game. He was involved in bowling leagues in Stockton and Sacramento for many years. Golfing and pitching horseshoes were also his hobbies. He was a member of the American Legion Ed Stewart Post # 803 of Stockton, the Eagles F.O.E. #83, a life member of Am Vets, and The Retired Enlisted Association. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rose Dearth of Stockton, children, Phillip Dearth, Dexter Dearth, Cheryl Burke, Donna Fleshman, step-children, William Espinosa, Cheryl Williams, and Mary Reed. He was preceded in death by his children, Jeffery Dearth and Debra Benefield. A Memorial service will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Rocha's All Faiths Cremation and Burial, 215 South School St., Lodi, Ca. 95240.
