Obituary of Richard Jerome Freeman

Dr. Richard Jerome Freeman 90 of Clements, CA passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday November 1, 2013. Dr. Freeman was born in 1923 to Henry and Ruth Freeman of Cleveland Ohio, both were immigrants of Hungary. Dr. Freeman was a graduate of Ohio State and received his medical degree from Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. Dr. Freeman serviced in WWII as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Stationed in Germany, he was assigned to Company K 313 Infantry. He served our country in Normandy. As a Purple Heart and EAME Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Starts recipient, Dr. Freeman was proud to be of service to his country. After his Honorable discharge from the Army and after graduating from college and medical school, Dr. Freeman completed his residence at New York's Presbyterian hospital where at a Christmas party in the cafeteria he was introduced to and fell in love with Andree Butler, a law student at Columbia University. After her graduation, they were married in New York City. They were married for 48 years. Dr. Freeman practiced medicine and raised his family with Andree in Tulsa Oklahoma and then moved them to Castro Valley CA. where he resided with his family until his retirement 25 years ago. Dr. Freeman's passion during his retirement was traveling to Europe, photographing architecture and college football. He moved to Trilogy in Rio Vista in 2004 where he enjoyed the photography Club. In November of 2012, Dr. Freeman moved in with family who reside in Clements, CA. Dr. Freeman is survived by his sons, Kent of Fountain Valley, CA Niles of Clements, CA Daughter in Law Susan of Fountain Valley and his grand children, Clint, Trevor, Caitlyn and Lindsay. His faithful wife Andree and son Keith predeceased him.
