Obituary of Neil Jay Cupp

Neil Jay Cupp December 25, 1925-May 28,2014 Born Christmas Day 1925 to Glen and Betty Cupp in Empire, California. He passed away after a hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease on May 28th. Married to Arlene Cooney Cupp for 68 years they had an enduring partnership of love. He was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law, sister Jean Murray and brother Buck Cupp. He leaves behind his two children Glenda McClune(Vic) and Michael Cupp, 5 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren, his sister Dorleece Hill and niece and nephew in law, Teresa and Jim Hicks. He grew up in Empire with many loving cousins and friends, graduated from Empire Union Grammar School then attended Modesto High School class of 1944. He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1944 and graduated from Creighton University as a flight officer.He was honorably discharged at the end of WWII. Became a journeyman carpenter in Modesto, California, eventually establishing a family construction business, Cupp Construction Company which he ran for 25 years. He was active with the Lions Club and Contractor's Association, becoming president of each organization. He was a faithful member of the Empire Church of the Brethren especially enjoying being a youth counselor with Arlene. He had many talents and interests; he and Arlene traveled the US and the world. He loved aviation an was a private pilot. His yard and garden were renowned. There will be no service at this time and burial will be private at the National Veterans Cemetery in Santa Nella.
