Obituary of Olivia Juliett Beck

Olivia Juliette Beck-Bowen, 86, died peacefully November 2, 2015. She was in her home surrounded by family, in Lodi California. A tough woman, she valiantly fought cancer for years. Julie Beck was born March 23, 1929 in Commerce, Texas to Arthur Clinton White and Jessie Mae. She is survived by her brothers Darrel L. surrounded by family, and Arthur Wayne. Her son Robert Franklin Beck, step daughters Michelle Caleah Bowen and Wendy Lynn Kwasny, Granddaughter Jessie Mae Eichmann, Great grandchildren, Miles and Ivy Kwasny and Presley Eichmann. Julie was married to her husband, William Grant Bowen for 15 years. Stricken with Infantile Paralysis when she was 5, Julie learned to ride a horse tied to her father's saddle. She was tutored bed side earning high school and college diplomas at home. She was driving at 13 using hand controls and a crutch to control the throttle and break. She supported her son, Robert, and studied nursing on crutches, doing odd jobs until becoming a LPN in Woodland. Julie finally learned to walk again in her mid 20's. She became a world traveler, an international ambassador of good will. She worked with doctors in the Middle East, and danced with presidents, diplomats and movie stars. Julie possessed an almost photographic memory, could quote the Bible from cover to cover, studied world religions, and kept people captivated with her stories. An accomplished equestrian, she raised horses like pets, collecting 17 head at one time. Julie was an interior designer, decorator, fine art collector. But most of all, Julie collected people, she befriended every one. She was a wife, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wonderful companion. Oh, God! How I'll miss her. Graveside services will be held Monday November 9, 2015 at 2:00pm at Lodi Memorial Cemtetery 5750 E. Pine Street, Lodi.
