Obituary of Josephine F. Zeiszler
Josephine Zeiszler May 27, 1923 - October 16, 2016 Josephine Zieszler, 93, a long-time resident of Stockton, died peacefully at O'Connor Woods following a brief illness. Jo was born in Bismarck, North Dakota to Jean and Josephine (Chabot) Taix. She was the youngest of 6 children and predeceased by her brothers Leon (Leo) Taix, Edward (Ade) Taix, and James (Jim) Taix, and her 2 sisters Mary Pounds and Florence Loh. After graduating from St. Mary's High School Jo attended Business College where she trained as a stenographer. She began her career working for the State of North Dakota in various Departments such as Vital Statistics and Public Utilities. Because of her knowledge in these areas, and expertise in Public Health, she was hired at Magnolia Petroleum, now known as Mobil Oil. Jo met her late husband Walter (Walt) while he was training at A. K. Jensen Upholstery in Bismarck, North Dakota. They met on a blind date where they went bowling together. After Walt moved to California with his family, Jo and he were married on June 12, 1950 in Lodi, California and set up house there. They moved to Stockton shortly thereafter where Jo worked for the California State Division of Highways (now known as the California Department of Transportation), the Alcohol Beverage Control Department, and the Equalization Board. She worked for the State of California for 29 years before retiring in 1985. Jo also helped Walt for many years at his own upholstery business.Jo and Walt were members of Amblers for many years and Jo was very active in St. Bernadette's parish. She and Walt also made many friends while living in Quail Lakes. One of her hobbies was gardening and she won the Quail Award for landscaping and property appearance many times. Jo was always very helpful taking care of family, friends, and neighbors by running errands, cooking meals, and caring for their pets. At O'Connor Woods she was one of the Ambassadors where she welcomed new residents. She will be remembered for her kindness, sweet personality, warm smile, and loving ways. Jo is survived by her daughter Nancy Zeiszler, her daughter-in-law Krissa Baylor, and her two "granddogs" Taylor and Tucker. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her very much. Family and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Saturday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the O'Connor Woods Chapel, 3400 Wagner Heights Road, Stockton, CA 95209. A reception will follow the service at the O'Connor Woods West Hall where all are welcome. Memorial contributions can be made to the O'Connor Woods Resident Assistance Fund.
