Obituary of Irene Frances Boynton

Irene F. Boynton, of Lodi, passed away on October 7, 2018. She was born to Hugo and Erna Melchert in French Camp, California on April 27, 1934. She attended Oak View Elementary School, St. Peter's Lutheran School, and Galt High School. Irene worked for the Lodi Unified School District as a Cafeteria Assistant for 15 years before retiring in 1995. She loved to sing and harmonize in barbershop quartets and sang in her church choir for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and happily attended their sports games and recitals. Irene was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Galt, California. She was also an active member of the Lodi Women of the Moose #488, where she loved to go and have dinner and visit with friends. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Boynton and her brother, Oscar Melchert. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Frame of Lodi and her son, Tony Berry (Nicole) of Pleasanton. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She leaves a sister, Vera Freeman of Acampo and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Rocha's Funeral Home- 215 S. School St. Lodi, Ca. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
