Obituary of Isela R Lawrence

Isela was born on 12/9/1929 in El Paso, Texas to Jesus and Emilia (Rivera) Ruiz. Her mother moved her sister Viola and Isela to Stockton, CA as teenagers from El Paso, Texas after her father passed away. Isela lived in Stockton, Ca the rest of her life and retired after 40+ years as a California State Employee from Worker’s Comp Appeals Board. Isela also cared for her grandchildren, Ashley and Germaine after school. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Joseph’s Hospital (10 years), helped in the office at St. Mary’s Interfaith Dining Hall (20+ years) and translated for patients at the St. Mary’s Interfaith Clinic. Served on the Advisory/Credit committee boards of Central State Credit Union (15+ years). She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing bunko, reading, sewing and traveling. Isela was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Ronald Moore, niece, Carol Ingraham and nephew, Kevin Moore. She was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Survived by daughter, Gail (Frank) Gleason, Great-Grandchildren, Azariyah, Gianna, Genniyah, Kendra, Arisela and A.J., granddaughter, Ashley (Ashley) Simmons, grandsons, Germaine Gleason and Frank Gleason, III, niece, Janis (Frank) Benach and nephew, Patrick (Cristina) Moore. And her church family at Holy Cross United Methodist Church.
