Obituary of John Eugene Fletcher

John Eugene Fletcher 69 passed away March 30, 2012 at his home. He was born in Gastonia North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Margaret Fletcher and his partner Frank Balz. He is survived by his sister Bama Thompson (Dennis), niece Amber Pence(Matt), and nephew Dennis Thompson II and five great grand nephews and nieces. He came to California when he was13 years and was an altar boy at St. John's Episcopal Church in Stockton. For years he was a camp councilor. He graduated from Stagg High School and from Old Miss in 1966. He loved to travel and knew everything about each county and brought his knowledge back to his students. Fondly remembered as "Fletch" he taught two years at senior L and spent the rest of his career teaching history, geography and honor government at Lodi High School till his retirement in 2004. He received many awards for his teaching abilities. He was involved in school activities and was thanked for his many years as an advisor to the student government. For years he took his government students to Washington D.C. He loved talking about his travels here and abroad and was very knowledgeable about each state and country. He was a volunteer at the Haggin Museum and for Mickie Grove Zoo. He was also very charitable. He was very politically involved enjoyed going out, giving parties and dining with friends. He would always say, "it's a social thing". Memorial services will be held on April 21, 2012 at 2 pm at he Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, 1055 S. Lower Sacramento Road Lodi .
